Word recently carried across the internet that a hardcore Christian group targeted Amarillo, Texas, with their reflexive fury and a pretty professional website. ‘Repent Amarillo‘ touts Biblical strictures and activism in a God-less world. On their ‘mission’ page, they banner the death of a far-flung believer:
This mission statement is borrowed from a Christian martyr of unknown identity. He was a young African Christian who penned these words in his prison cell before his death. May God bless him for his inspiration . .
These ‘Repenters’, alive and unbending, move forward in their war with Amarillo by assaulting the town with a pair of legions: one to interrupt remotely evil-doing by prayer, a second to witness and excoriate it.
Some of the possible missions that these two groups may be called upon to work will be some of the following:
1. Gay pride events.
2. Earth worship events such as “Earth Day”
3. Pro-abortion events or places such as Planned Parenthood
4. Breast cancer events such as “Race for the Cure” to illuminate the link between abortion and breast cancer.
5. Opening day of public schools to reach out to students.
6. Spring break events.
7. Demonically based concerts.
8. Halloween events.
9. Other events that may arise that the ministry feels called to confront.
These are Christian Taliban. But I wish they did not exist, they are more of everywhere than ever before it seems. And they are visibly scared of a muscular government in an activist state, of a sober Black President with commands of language and daunting issues, and of the stark American reality that coarse Christianity solves nothing. So these are desperate people desperate to knock Americans back to their once Biblical senses.
You could have recently seen them pamphleteer to young women about their dress less they get predictably, understandably raped:
“Scripture tells us that when a man looks on a woman to lust for her he has already committed adultery in his heart. If you are dressed in a way that tempts a men to do this secret (or not so secret) sin, you are a participant in the sin,” the leaflet states. “By the way, some rape victims would not have been raped if they had dressed properly. So can we really say they were innocent victims? . .”
Suggestive? As transparent as that seems, there’s more to them than oblivious inter-continental pantomime. With the Asian Taliban, they share three robust traits:
1.) Religious fundamentalism.
2.) A far-reaching societal demand that religious text dictate all life, yours included.
3.) Martial rigidity in the face of questions or protest.
The American Family Association are quintessential U.S. Taliban. When it comes time to play the game of “Who is America’s Conscience,” they play their three aces to trump normal life through the media.
. . [The AFA] was founded in 1977 by Rev. Donald Wildmon as the “National Federation for Decency” and is headquartered in Tupelo, Mississippi . .
AFA Journal, a monthly publication with a circulation of 180,000 containing news, features, columns, and interviews. In addition to the publication, AFA Journal articles are made available online. The AFA Journal reviews and categorizes the content of prime-time television shows. The categories include profanity, sex, violence, homosexuality, substance abuse, “anti-Christian” content, or “political correctness.” . .
American Family Radio (AFR), a network of approximately 200 AFA-owned radio stations broadcasting Christian-oriented programming.
The AFA denounce virtually anything that’s currently modern, mainstream or American; almost nothing doesn’t deserve sulfuric scorn and damnation. Anyone who crosses their myriad Biblical lines earns a bullseye, and a list of AFA’s specific corporate targets doubles as so comprehensive a Who’s Who of familiar billboard, radio and TV advertisers as to be business itself:
The AFA has boycotted multiple U.S. companies for various reasons . . These organizations include: 7-Eleven, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Airlines, American Girl, Blockbuster Video, Burger King, Calvin Klein, Carl’s Jr., Clorox, Comcast, Crest, Ford, Hallmark Cards, Kmart, Kraft Foods, S. C. Johnson & Son, Movie Gallery, Microsoft, MTV, Mary Kay, NutriSystem, Old Navy, IKEA, Sears, Pampers, Procter & Gamble, Target, Tide, Walt Disney Company, and PepsiCo.
In the eighties, they boycotted a number of companies for their associations with what offended them. AFA boycotted 7-Eleven and Waldenbooks for selling Playboy magazines. They also orchestrated embargoes against those loitering near perverse late-night comedy skits and music videos:
Christian Leaders for Responsible Television (CLeaR-TV), affiliated with the AFA, has approached sponsors of programs that it considered immoral. In 1989, CLeaR-TV successfully persuaded General Mills, Ralston Purina, Domino’s Pizza, Mazda, and Noxell to withdraw advertising from Saturday Night Live. AFA also boycotted PepsiCo that year also for supporting Madonna, whose video for “Like a Prayer” Wildmon felt was sacriligeous.
Lately, they’ve been hysterical over the “homosexual agenda.” Campbell’s Soup advertised some of its broth in The Advocate and got the crosshairs. Hallmark Cards? They sold product to you-know-who:
We’ve all given or received Hallmark Cards – remember their slogan – “when you care enough to send the very best.” But promoting same-sex marriage for profit is not the very best for families or our nation. Hallmark is a private company obviously driven by greed.
There seems to be no end to the queer threats.
Certainly, Bryan Fischer sees it that way. He is probably AFA’s most visible and vocal spokesman, appearing frequently both in print and in video, especially online. And, when it comes to homosexuality, he is Taliban through and through. Gay people should be locked in jail:
Bryan Fischer-Focal Point
Legal Sanctions for Homosexual Behavior
I received a complaint from a listener to my “Focal Point” radio program, complaining that I had suggested that it is appropriate to impose legal sanctions on those who engage in homosexual behavior. .
The bottom line here is that, biblically, those “who practice homosexuality” should come under the purview of the law just as much as those who take people captive in order to sell them into slavery.
And gayness obviates the Constitution:
Bryan Fischer-Focal Point
Homosexual agenda or the Constitution: take your pick because you can’t have both
The homosexual agenda represents a clear and present danger to virtually every fundamental right given to us by our Creator and enshrined for us in our Constitution.
Start with freedom of religion and freedom of speech, the first two of our inalienable rights secured for us in the Bill of Rights.
. . the cause for this particular screed? Gays in the military:
The implications for national security, especially for recruitment and retention, are sobering. As gays come roaring out of the military’s closet with fangs bared, they will be sending heterosexuals to the brig if they won’t keep their opinions to themselves. Who wants to serve in a military like that?
But if there were ever a perfect example of Christian Talibanese, if “Taliban” were code for religious extremism so perverse that it bizarrely becomes what it purports to exterminate, evil itself, it’s this from Fischer:

Judeo-Christian tradition supports the death penalty
By Bryan Fischer
. . These are the words of God as recorded in Genesis 9:5-6:
5] “For your lifeblood I will require a reckoning…from his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.
6] Whoever sheds the blood of man,
By man shall his blood be shed,
For God made man in his own image.”
God is here on record that capital punishment is morally necessary and right. He requires that it be carried out, because murder involves destroying what God has made in his own image and likeness. It is clear also that he has delegated authority to man to carry out capital punishment — “by man shall his blood be shed.”
Bryan’s God “requires” that you carry out the death penalty. And if you’re doubting my reading of this, read this:
Although there are differences of opinion even in the faith community over a proper understanding of the death penalty (for instance, my friends in the Roman Catholic tradition take a different position), it is my view that capital punishment represents the ultimate pro-life view. When we use the death penalty, we are saying that this culture values human life so much that if a man takes a life without just cause, he must forfeit his own life in consequence. To fail to exact the death penalty for murder cheapens the value we place on life.
Sparing life cheapens life, not the other way around. God sees as morally suspect those who wouldn’t execute their suspect fellow man. “He requires that it be carried out,” the righteous Bryan says.
Sound familiar? It’s the American Taliban. They’re here to tell you how to command this world in order to be good, like them. Right down to your oxen:

Bible ignored, trainer dies
You are aware by now that a 12,000 pound killer whale at SeaWorld Orlando killed his trainer Dawn Brancheau yesterday by pulling her into a pool and dragging her around until she drowned, in front of a crowd of stunned guests.
Chalk another death up to animal rights insanity and to the ongoing failure of the West to take counsel on practical matters from Scripture . .
Says the ancient civil code of Israel, “When an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner shall not be liable.” (Exodus 21:28)
