Blogger Confederate Yankee begs Senator Byrd to die before final healthcare vote

Republican bloggers are so kewl:

Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) has seen far better days, and is often little more than a warm body when he is helped into the Senate. Granted, lucidity and coherence is not a priority among Senate Democrats, but Byrd is an embarrassment even for a party that regular drafts the imaginary or dead to vote.

You’re mocking Dems for a lack of “lucidity and coherence“, and you can’t conjugate ‘to be’? “Granted, lucidity and coherence ARE not a priority priorities among Senate Democrats…” Or manage an adverb like “regularly”? Funny. Yankee are not colucent.

Robert Byrd has been around a very long time, and his many decades of service have made West Virginia a wonderful state in which to manufacture methamphetamine or frame the locals for murder.

Here Yankee inserts a Bill Sparkman link. And now you’re thinking “…wait–didn’t that happen in…”…err, yup. That was in Kentucky. In fact, here’s the first line of his highlighted post: “Kentucky State Police Lt. David Jude says…..” Beeeyootiful.

But it’s time for Senator to do the right thing, and expire.

It isn’t too much to ask for Byrd to step off for that great klavern in the sky before the Senate vote that may force this nation to accept government-rationed health care. Even a nice coma would do.

Without his frail, Gollum-like body being wheeled into the Senate’s chambers to cast the deciding vote, the Senate cannot curse our children and grandchildren with crushing debt and rationed, substandard healthcare.

Byrd should die, or millions will get healthcare.

So plenty of people read the post and said “Hey Confederate Yankee–go die yourself.”

I’ve found the enraged responses of some of my detractors (primarily in the form of emails and comments) to be mildly amusing. By saying that they wish me to die for posting my preference for Byrd’s timely demise, they’ve exposed the fact that they are entirely comfortable with calling for someone’s death over politics.

They just lack the intellectual honesty to admit it.

Unlike YOU, he has principles.

Death of Iran’s reforming Grand Ayatollah Montazeri draws out university students and the opposition by the thousands

Grand Ayatollah Montazeri’s funeral sees hundreds of thousands challenge the Iranian regime

Opposition supporters chanted anti-government slogans in Iran’s holy city of Qom on Monday after the funeral of Ayatollah Montazeri.

Mourners wearing green items, a symbol of the protests that followed last June’s presidential election, chanted slogans similar to those used in the post-ballot demonstrations.

Iran says it will not be held responsible for ‘bloodshed’ on the streets

There were clashes between hardline pro-government vigilantes and mourners, reports said. “Ansar Hezbollah groups entered the crowd and wanted to derail the slogans and disrupt the ceremony. They went away after clashing with some people,” Rahesabz website reported.

Presidential challengers Mir-Hussein Mousavi and Mehdi Karrubi were among those present. “Hundreds of thousands from all over the country” gathered today outside Montazeri’s house in the city of Qom to take part, opposition leader Mr Mousavi’s Kaleme.org website said.

Ayatollah Montazeri, once an ally of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini who led the 1979 Islamic Revolution, was designated to succeed him as Supreme Leader before the two fell out over the execution of opposition members shortly before Khomeini died in 1989. The post of Supreme Leader has since been held by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In September, authorities arrested three grandsons of Montazeri after he urged the clergy to speak out against Iran’s leadership and the crackdown that followed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s re-election. The opposition alleged that the June election was marred by fraud, a charge that Ahmadinejad denied.

montazeri funeral

Kaleme said people were chanting slogans in support of opposition leaders Mr Mousavi and Mr Karoubi.

It quoted one slogan as saying, in reference to the green colour of the pro-reform movement in Iran: “Today is the day of mourning and the green Iranian nation is the owner of this mourning.”

Kaleme said people were carrying various “green symbols”, an apparent reference to green wristbands and other items in the same colour.

It said there was a “considerable” presence of security forces, but that there had so far been no report of any clashes.

Ayatollah Montazeri’s death on Saturday coincides with tensions rising once again in the Islamic Republic, six months after the disputed June presidential poll plunged the major oil producer into political crisis.

The cleric was named in the 1980s to succeed revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini as Iran’s top authority, but fell out with the leadership. He was under house arrest in Qom from 1998 until 2003 and became a respected opposition figure.

Lt. Col. Jim Gentry, exposed to sodium dichromate while protecting Halliburton war contractors, dies of cancer

See the earlier post, including the CBS News story and interview, here.

Indiana National Guardsman Lt. Col. Jim Gentry died a week ago Wednesday, November 25th. He was 52 years old.

A retired Indiana National Guard lieutenant colonel, Gentry was the commander of the 1st Battalion, 152nd Infantry, which, at about 600 soldiers strong, was in Iraq from February 2003 to February 2004.

This Indiana National Guard unit was responsible for protecting US civilians working for KBR at the Qarmat Ali water plant in Southern Iraq. Returning this water plant to full operation was essential to restoring Iraqi oil production and KBR had the contract to do that.

Unfortunately, upon retreat, Saddam loyalists sabotaged the plant by cutting open bags of sodium dichromate, a yellow-orange powered rust inhibitor, and spread it everywhere. Not being informed by KBR management what this powder was, soldiers and civilians alike took few precautions to protect themselves. People started experiencing symptoms of chronic nose bleeds, headaches, skins lesions. Even after countless complaints KBR did not test the substance and inform anyone as to the hazards. Click HERE for five short (18 min total) deposition testimony videos of KBR management putting their spin on why soldiers and civilians weren’t informed of the inherent health risks of this “yellow-orange” powder.

Gentry, even after being retired and diagnosed with cancer, led his soldiers with strength and dignity. He became an outspoken advocate demanding investigations and VA coverage for illnesses believed to have been caused by the toxic exposure…

A sombrero-sized h/t to mssparky.com for all their hard work…

Conservatives’ inability to deal with gruesome Sparkman murder continues: ‘He was probably killed by illegal immigrants’

How much longer will it be before ACORN will have killed Bill? Days? Hours?

Dead Census worker: Victim of open borders?
Roger Hedgecock
Posted: September 28, 2009

Two weeks ago, Census taker Bill Sparkman died choking, hands and feet bound, hanging naked from a tree in a remote site in Daniel Boone National Forest in Clay County, Ky. Someone had scrawled “fed” on his chest with a felt-tipped pen.

Last week, Sparkman’s death became fodder for more attacks on “right-wing violence.” Bloggers wanted to “send the body to Glenn Beck,” and a Time magazine piece speculated that Sparkman was a victim of the culture of another McCain-voting Southern state

Now it looks more like Sparkman was yet another victim of illegal drug operations on national forest land, and possibly also a victim of our still open border with Mexico.

Taking the Census in our national forests is dangerous business. Law enforcement sources say meth labs and marijuana plantations are “prevalent” in the area of Sparkman’s death. Did he stumble across a drug operation in the Daniel Boone National Forest? No one is saying for sure, but the locals believe it…

Our open border with Mexico has been changing American society in a number of unpleasant ways. These fires, these destroyed national forest lands, and maybe even Bill Sparkman’s death, may just be the latest way.

So now it’s wild-eyed drug pushers. But not the white American ones, the brown Mexican ones. This latest story I don’t find very compelling given that illegal immigrants, even, or especially, the ones running drug operations, are very wary of police and the government. When law enforcement drops by, they run.

And when it’s some harmless guy from the Census Bureau, they don’t abduct, kill and hang him. And then write ‘fed’ on the body. That’s a particularly lurid, public message that doesn’t really serve a foreign drug operation. Perhaps Mexican drug-dealer/manufacturers in Mexico, maybe, but not here.

This murder really looks like an act of rage, and Conservatives just refuse to admit they have had a hand in pouring gasoline on already-present anti-government feelings in that part of Kentucky. I don’t imagine the moonshining days are all that far back. Instead, they’re going to keep coming up with ever-more preposterous scenarios, some that obscenely blame the blameless Sparkman for his own murder because, frankly, these right-wingers are cowards.

If it does turn out to be some paranoid ‘Federal Government Rapes and Kills!’ lunatic, watch them pile on that the killer was actually a hard core liberal. Yes, they are that dumb and shameless.

How insurance companies murder the ill: the evil, un-american practice of “rescission” and Monday’s $10 million verdict

An insurance company’s “reprehensible” decision to rescind a South Carolina man’s coverage after he tested positive for HIV warrants a $10 million punitive damage award, the state Supreme Court ruled.

Jerome Mitchell applied for health insurance with Fortis Insurance Co. in 2001 at the age of 17. Fortis issued him a policy after he stated that he had never been treated for an immune deficiency. One year later, Mitchell tried to donate blood to the Red Cross, which informed Mitchell that he was HIV-positive. Mitchell’s doctor confirmed this finding. Fortis investigated Mitchell’s medical history and rescinded his policy, stating that Mitchell had misrepresented his HIV-positive status.

Mitchell sued for breach of contract and bad faith and presented evidence that he would die of AIDS within four years without medical treatment. The trial court ruled in Mitchell’s favor, awarding him $186,000 in actual damages and $15 million in punitive damages. The state high court upheld the awards, but reduced the punitive damage award to $10 million based on the ratio of the projected $1 million cost of Mitchell’s treatment.

“We find ample support in the record that Fortis’ conduct was reprehensible … Fortis demonstrated an indifference to Mitchell’s life and a reckless disregard to his health and safety,” Justice Toal wrote.

That’s rescission. The insurance company looked at the cost of providing meds to a 17 year-old for the rest of his life and said ‘Fuck it.’ So they canceled his policy and dared him to do anything about it. They had no evidence at all that he was sick before he got the policy, they just guessed that he must have been and have known because-hey, c’mon–what are they, idiots?

It takes nothing more than that for an insurance company to essentially sentence you to death, or kill you.

Obama cited the case of a retired Texas nurse, Robin Beaton, who had her heath insurance canceled by her insurance company as she was about to undergo breast cancer surgery. As a result, Beaton had to delay her surgery for five months. In the interim, the size of the mass of her tumor had grown from 2 centimeters to 7 centimeters, greatly reducing her chances of survival.

A “woman from Texas was about to get a double mastectomy when her insurance company canceled her policy because she forgot to declare a case of acne,” the President asserted in his speech, “By the time she had insurance reinstated, her breast cancer more then doubled in size. This is heart breaking. It is wrong. And no one should be treated that way in the United States of America.” (more…)

And now, ‘Coach’ Collins the Freeper takes a minute to absolutely trash the departed Edward M. Kennedy

[Apparently, this is how ‘genuine Americans’ are:]

An honest obituary of “Sir” Ted Kennedy you’ll never see in print
By Kevin “Coach” Collins

Senator Ted Kennedy has lost his battle to live. As a Christian I hope God has mercy on him. He suffered from a ghastly cancerous brain tumor that has apparently taken his life.

Obviously Kennedy will be canonized by acclamation in the media today and for days to come. The British Crown has already given him an honorary knighthood making him “Sir Edward” but genuine Americans know better.

These things said, I offer the following brief but honest obituary items which have no chance of appearing anywhere in the Democrat controlled media.

“It’s hard to think of anyone who singlehandedly did more damage to America than Ted Kennedy. Starting with his disgusting criminal conduct at Chappaquiddick when he abandoned Mary Jo Kopechne to die, Kennedy was always a destructive force in America’s public life. Because Kennedy was never prosecuted, as he should have been, his crime did enormous damage to America’s sense of justice and belief that “no one is above the law.”

“On signing the 1965 Civil Rights Law, Lyndon Johnson lamented, “We [Democrats] have lost the South for a generation.” This moved Kennedy to commit perhaps his most egregious acts when he sponsored two Immigration reform bills that slammed the door on Europeans who had traditionally brought industriousness and honor to America. Instead they cleared the way for millions and millions of legal and illegal aliens from elsewhere who often bring no skills but palpable contempt for America. Kennedy is responsible for the damage they have done.

“One of Kennedy’s most memorable quotes came in a rare truthful moment during a discussion about socialism he said, “[Socialism] hasn’t worked in 6,000 years of recorded history because it didn’t have me to run it.”

“Sir Edward’s family asks for donations to LaRaza or Moveon.org. groups he loved so dearly.”

Politically correct services in Sir Edward’s memory will be held in Boston New York and San Francisco. I won’t be attending any.

Do it for Ted

The Marxists will try to use Kennedy’s corpse as a platform to spring into action ram through Obamacare and “do it for Ted.” We have to redouble our efforts to stop this last assault by sycophantic liberal robots all snots and tears over their hero’s death. We can’t become slaves just to honor this man who has already done us some much harm. We can’t let Sir Edward assault us even from his grave.

“Sir” Edward was an enemy of everything that made America great and now he is gone. There is not much more to honestly say about him. Nevertheless, I hope God’s mercies showered him at his judgment.

What killed Michael Jackson? Stupidity, sycophancy, Conrad Murray, propofol, lorazepam, midazolam, valium . .

It wasn’t a heart attack, that much we know. It was drugs, or stupidity, or the unending demands of a superstar or the weaknesses of people who knew better. All of those things:

Coroner Attributes Michael Jackson’s Death to Sedative

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 — Michael Jackson died in his rented mansion June 25 from a deadly dose of the powerful anesthetic drug propofol, according to an affidavit unsealed Monday…

Murray said he feared that Jackson was forming an addiction to the drug, which the singer allegedly referred to as “milk,” and that he was trying to wean him off of it. So he lowered Jackson’s propofol dosage to 25 milligrams, mixing it with two other sedatives, lorazepam and midazolam, according to the report. On June 23, two days before the singer’s death, he reportedly gave Jackson lorazepam and midazolam, withholding the propofol.

Searching Murrays house

Searching Murray's house

On the day Jackson died, Murray tried to induce sleep at 1:30 a.m. with Valium; at 2 a.m. with lorazepam; and at 3 a.m. with midazolam, according to the affidavit. After Murray failed to put Jackson to sleep with additional doses over the next few hours, Jackson then demanded propofol. At 10:40 a.m., the report notes, Murray administered 25 milligrams of the drug and continued to monitor Jackson for 10 minutes, until Murray left for the restroom. Murray told investigators that he returned after no more than two minutes and noticed Jackson had stopped breathing.

Between all the drugs (Ativan is lorazepam, and Versed is midazolam), the dangerous use of propofol and the shocking amount of time Dr. Murray spent on the phone while Jackson was either dying or dead, the doctor’s goose is cooked:

Coroner’s preliminary finding: Jackson overdosed on propofol

…Murray recounted to detectives in an hour-by-hour account detailed by detective Orlando Martinez of the Los Angeles Police Department:

— At about 1:30 a.m., Murray gave Jackson 10 mg of Valium.

— At about 2 a.m., he injected Jackson with 2 mg of the anti-anxiety drug Ativan.

— At about 3 a.m., Murray then administered 2 mg of the sedative Versed.

— At about 5 a.m., he administered another 2 mg of Ativan.

— At about 7:30 a.m., Murray gave Jackson yet another 2 mg of Versed while monitoring him with a device that measured the oxygen saturation of his blood.

— At about 10:40 a.m., “after repeated demands/requests from Jackson,” Murray administered 25 mg of propofol, the document said.

“Jackson finally went to sleep and Murray stated that he remained monitoring him. After approximately 10 minutes, Murray stated he left Jackson’s side to go to the restroom and relieve himself. Murray stated he was out of the room for about two minutes maximum. Upon his return, Murray noticed that Jackson was no longer breathing,” the affidavit said.

Efforts at CPR proved fruitless, according to Murray.

Shortly after Murray said he found Jackson not breathing, Murray was on the phone with three separate callers starting at 11:18 a.m. and ending at 12:05 p.m., according to the court documents which cite the doctor’s phone records.

Michael Jackson’s doctor ‘set to be charged with manslaughter’

…Dr Murray has admitted administering the powerful sedative propofol to the singer on the day he died to help him sleep.

But he claims the amount, 25 milligrams, was small and should not have been fatal.

To secure a conviction for involuntary manslaughter prosecutors will have to prove that Dr Murray acted recklessly and created a high risk of death.

He will also be asked why he didn’t tell paramedics or doctors at the UCLA hospital, where Jackson was rushed after collapsing, that he had administered propofol.

Leading US attorney Roy Black said the intensity of the two month police investigation made it inevitable that Dr Murray would be charged. He said: “I have no doubt he’s going to be indicted. Just the amount of work tells us that.”

The homicide ruling by the coroner’s office was based on forensic tests that found propofol combined with at least two other sedatives, lorazepam and midazolam, to kill Jackson.

Lee Cantrell, director of the San Diego division of the California Poison Control System, said 25 milligrams of propofol was “not a whopping amount” but in a cocktail of other sedatives may have “pushed him over the edge”.

He said: “This is horrible polypharmacy. No one will treat an insomniac like this.”

Healthcare reform, Sarah Palin style: the Down Syndrome children of America will have to go before a government panel that decides whether they should be killed

It is so frustrating trying to title posts about Sarah Palin that do justice to her savage stupidity.

Sarah has figured out what government healthcare reform holds in store for America, and, surprisingly, she doesn’t want thousands and thousands of babies mandated to be slaughtered by the government. You go, rebellious baby-lover!

toma’s Notes

Statement on the Current Health Care Debate
today at 8:34 p.m.

As a patriotic American, I have to say I’m a little shocked that no other healthcare expert managed to pick up on Obama’s ‘Kill Your Babies–Yes, or No?‘ government panel provision. Heck, the ‘Kill Sarah’s Mom and Dad–Yes, or No?‘ panel is disturbing enough, you know? Not that I’d have any say in that, I suppose–I just don’t want one of those panel thingies to show up for my folks. I’ve got enough worries what with all the FEMA Death Camps popping up all around me like Starbuck’s. (And just why do all the Femas have to die anyway? Are they, like, some invasive species?)

Anyhoo, it occurred to me that if we’re all really going to get serious about cutting healthcare costs, and the baby-panel thing is already a done deal, it’s seems pretty silly to wait until after they’re born to decide whether they should live or die. Birthing is some pretty expensive stuff–am I right? The government should be able to decide before they’re born whether they should live. I mean, if they end up killing Trig, Sarah’s probably gonna be pretty bummed about that. She’s real attached to her baby by now. They coulda saved a lot of money and sadness, and time, by killing Trig a while ago.

'Hello, I would like to kill Michael Jackson. Will Propofol (Diprivan) do the trick?' Yes.

Propofol is a fast-acting, fast-exit anesthetic. It is the modern replacement for the well-known and notorious Sodium Pentathol (AKA ‘truth serum.’) It is a hospital-environment anesthetic administered by IV, and it requires a monitoring physician and crash teams in the event of blood pressure or respiratory collapse.

Propofol’s ‘tranquilization’ is a one-way street: there’s no way to reverse its chemical effects once they’ve begun. You can only rescue someone’s vitals, like blood pressure and breathing, by the usual methods. It certainly isn’t a better version of Nyquil, it’s dangerous as hell.

‘Marc E. Koch, MD, MBA, an anesthesiologist and President and Chief Executive Officer of Somnia, Inc., New Rochelle, N.Y., testified about the administration of propofol before the FDA:

“Because there are no antagonistic agents for this anesthetic [propofol], it is crucial that a formally educated and trained anesthesia provider, with primary and sole responsibility for advanced airway and resuscitative support, be responsible for its administration.”

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), in response to written questions from Anesthesiology News, stated, “Propofol is a powerful anesthetic agent that can produce unpredictable levels of sedation along the continuum from sedation to general anesthesia. There are no drugs that can quickly reverse the effects of propofol.”‘

Used in a normal hospital setting, when a patient’s vitals collapse, the anesthetic will be stopped, doctors will actively assist the patient’s breathing and blood pressure, the drug will begin to wear off, and then everything will return to ‘normal’. Unless it’s a prolonged episode, I’m not even sure they’ll tell the patient about it because, hey, that’s just the risk of anesthesia.

But anyone toying with Propofol outside of a clinical setting, outside of a place staffed with professional personnel familiar with the drug’s potential, courts death. The people who have easy access to it–smart, experienced doctors–sometimes sneak it home to combat insomnia, occasionally becoming habitual users. And then they die.

Turns out that Fox News’ and Lt. Col. Ralph (‘Bob’) Peters’ calling for the death of Bergdahl, the Taliban hostage, not popular with Pentagon, veterans, people

I’m no military veteran, but TV talking heads shouldn’t call for the executions of our captured service men and women? Seems reasonable enough. [For more on the titanic asshole ‘Bob’ Peters, see here and here and here]

Pentagon furious over call for execution of captured soldier

According to NBC’s top Pentagon correspondent, the Department of Defense is furious with Fox News analyst Ralph Peters, who said on July 19 that the Taliban should murder 23-year-old Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl, captured after he strayed from his post, to save the Army “legal hassles and legal bills.”

Peters, a well-known Neoconservative and frequent Fox News guest, attempted to clarify his shocking statement on Tuesday night’s O’Reilly Factor, telling right-wing host Bill O’Reilly he believes that Bergdahl had “deserted” his unit and deserved no sympathy. He did not apologize. O’Reilly added that Bergdahl must be “crazy.”

However, Wednesday night MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow fired back, interviewing Jim Miklaszewski, NBC’s top Pentagon correspondent, who said the Department of Defense is furious with Peters and Fox News, adding there is no evidence that Bergdahl is a deserter.

Peters’ and O’Reilly’s insidious comments drew a sharp reaction from a bipartisan group of 22 veteran members of Congress, who all signed a letter demanding Fox News CEO Roger Ailes apologize to Bergdahl’s family for allowing a guest on his network to provide “aid and comfort” to America’s enemies.

“Mr. Peters’ indefensible comments call into question, without any supporting evidence whatsoever, PFC Bergdahl’s patriotism and commitment to his country, and suggest in a non-subtle way that he deserved to be captured,” they wrote. “The truth is that Mr. Peters’ words give more aid and comfort to the enemy…and put PFC Bergdahl at additional risk of harm.”…

Jim Miklaszewski, NBC’s Pentagon correspondent, told Maddow on Wednesday night that Bergdahl “came off patrol on June 30th, dropped off his weapon, his body armor, grabbed up a bottle of water, a compass and a knife and took off out on his own. It was sometime after that, apparently, that some local militants grabbed him and turned him over to the Taliban.”

“Should he have left the post alone?” Miklaszewski asked. “Of course not. But that doesn’t make him a deserter.”

He continued: “Military officials I talked to are quite outraged at Peters’ comments, not just the idea perhaps that he suggested that the Taliban should execute Bergdahl, but because it’s totally irresponsible. Here you have a kid, 23-years-old, in custody. He’s got to be terrified. And now, these Peters comments could actually be used by his captors to get even deeper inside Bergdahl’s mind and further erode any confidence that he may have that he will ever come out alive.”

“I suspect my fellow Americans might really bail out of the FOX viewership over this one,” opined former war reporter and photographer Tim King, who edits Oregon-based Web site Salem-News.

“If this insolent wicked little man named Peters at FOX manages to turn people against this American who volunteered to serve in the military, fully aware that almost anyone in the Army can be deployed overseas, he should be arrested and tossed in prison,” King continued. “When does FOX News cross the line? This is a new age, a new time, and there is no way in Hell that Peters or FOX can cry ‘free speech’ now.”

Your War on Drugs on video: 42 year-old Louisiana man gets pulled over, pops drugs in mouth, gets choked to death

A 42-year-old Louisiana man has died, apparently of a broken neck, after being pulled over by a police deputy.

A dash cam video shows Deputy Chris Sturdivant of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office with his arms around Adam Stogner’s neck after the officer suspected the man of putting a small quantity of drugs into his mouth.

Stogner died along Interstate 12. Preliminary results from the coroner show that Stogner died from “severe coronary artery disease, an enlarged heart, and a fracture of the hyoid bone in his neck.”

page x – tasers kill pt.ix

The denial’s a joke, the front is keeling. Tasers flat kill people: the cops were suckered, were badly trained. The weapon is dangerous.

Taser victim Iman Morales’ kin file
$10 million suit
against city, cops

The family of a Brooklyn man who died after police Tasered him is suing the city, a cop and the estate of another officer who killed himself for $10 million.

Relatives of Iman Morales, 35, want the money and a review of police protocols and training in the use of Tasers.

“He didn’t deserve any of this,” said Morales’ mother, Olga Negron, 55, who was at the scene when her mentally ill son was struck and then fell headfirst from a ledge onto the concrete 10 feet below. “It was horrible.”

Authorities have been dealing with the mentally ill for centuries, don’t tell me that they were overwhelmed with the situation. They ran short of patience and pulled the Taser because it’s an intervention machine.
