Security cop mishandles gun, shoots student at Aurora high school

it fits in my mouth

Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colorado:

About an hour after school let out for the day, the student was getting a ride home from a school employee who also works a second job as an armed security officer, according to police. The employee was trying to put his gun into the glove box of the car when the weapon fired, hitting the student in the leg.

The man drove the student to a nearby hospital, arriving around 4:30 p.m., police said. The student was rushed into surgery with what police described as a “significant injury” to his leg.

Consider this: Though only about 35-40% of America own guns, we have almost as many guns as people. Almost 300 million firearms.

If we can’t cut down on this menace to civilization, can’t we cut down on the negligence? Can’t we foster some responsibility?

Because this is endemic violence by another name. It’s murder by stupid. And this needs to be stopped. This has to be punished. Your weapon misfires in public by any means, you go to prison. For 6 months. If it misfires within 100 yards of children, 12 months in lockup. If it misfires and hits someone, 5 years in jail. I’ll be much more tolerant of the N.R.A. after the penitentiaries start loading up with their yahoos.

It’s about time we figured out whether the Good Guys With Guns are really all that good. The word also means “adept.” You carry a killing machine into the public realm, the law puts you on the hook. It’s only right.

Right-wingers up to their same old tricks: whining, mayhem and murder

attack of the wuss, violence monger

On the front page here, five months ago:

Arch-conservatives continue their banner August. In the first week of the month unemployed white supremacist Wade Page shot and killed six Sikhs at a temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. In week two unemployed gun nut and Palin/Beck/O’Reilly fan Thomas Caffall killed two people, one a constable, in College Station, Texas. Also in week two a group of barely-employed “sovereign citizens” and their girlfriends shot four Louisiana deputies in and around St. John the Baptist Parish, killing two.

Then four soldiers who planned a shooting spree (and a presidential assassination) were arrested before they could do any harm. Still: Ten dead and more wounded as the American right-wing made its presence known throughout August 2012. A hell of a month for the wingnuts.

The violence wasn’t that surprising. A 2009 Deparment of Homeland Security report predicted home-grown terrorism would likely emanate from the ultra-conservative crowd. As much as Michelle Malkin screamed about the conclusions, the report ended up being perfectly accurate. A trail of corpses proved how dangerous the far right-wing really were.

Which brings us to Monday. And the butthurts at the Daily Caller:

Army should fire author of report on conservative terrorism
Bill Wilson | President, Americans for Limited Government

. . the report warns of the rising militancy of so-called “anti-federalists” — or Americans who embrace radical notions like “civil activism, individual freedoms and self-government.” In other words, anyone expressing support for the fundamental democratic ideals upon which our nation was founded could be a terrorist.

According to [Dr. Arie] Perliger, these “anti-federalists” are dangerous because they “espouse strong convictions regarding the federal government, believing it to be corrupt and tyrannical, with a natural tendency to intrude on individuals’ civil and constitutional rights.”

Wait — government isn’t corrupt? And warrantless wiretaps, forced participation in a Social Security Ponzi scheme and Barack Obama’s health insurance mandate aren’t intrusions on our liberties?

It’s deja vu. And this is today, right now, this very hour and minute:

The man who ignited a hostage standoff in southern Alabama when he shot a bus driver and took a child into an underground bunker is a “survivalist” who has ties to the antigovernment movement, an official with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office told Hatewatch this morning.

The gunman is identified as Jimmy Lee Dykes, 65, a Vietnam veteran. On Tuesday afternoon, Dykes allegedly stormed into a school bus in Midland City, Ala., shooting the bus driver four times with a 9 mm pistol before taking a child to an underground bunker behind his home. The bus driver, identified as 66-year-old Charles Poland Jr., later died.

Tim Byrd, chief investigator with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, told Hatewatch that Dykes had “anti-America” views. “His friends and his neighbors stated that he did not trust the government, that he was a Vietnam vet, and that he had PTSD,” Byrd said. “He was standoffish, didn’t socialize or have any contact with anybody. He was a survivalist type.”

Jimmy Lee Dykes is still holding the six year-old boy hostage and the police at bay.

Gina Miller misunderstands the ‘Shorter’

shorter, wingnuts, you touched me

Gina Miller comes across a 2012 post featuring her and she doesn’t like it:

False Reporting on your site

I stumbled on a false quote attributed to me on the Sick Horses site, and I demand this be removed from your site: http://sickhorses.com/2012/03/29/gina-miller-trayvon-martin-came-from-a-sub-culture/

This ignorant misquote completely takes the meaning of my column out of context and attributes to it words I never wrote that are mixed in with words I did write–not to mention the Photoshopped image of my picture and Trayvon Martin’s image.

I never said, “It’s no surprise somebody shot Trayvon Martin.” NEVER. And, the rest of my words in the quote are doctored with other words that were not in my piece.

Delete this post immediately.

Gina Miller

Here is the offending material:

Pictured (l to r): elegant & eloquent, ugly & unintelligible

Shorter Gina Miller, Renew America:

“It’s no surprise somebody shot Trayvon Martin. Black people have become a sub-culture that glorifies incoherent music, anti-social behavior, despicable dress, and even its own unintelligible speech.”

Alright Gina. Let me explain the concept of the ‘Shorter.’ This is where I read something awful written by you and I do my best to understand what it is you’re trying to say. Then I compose a spirited synopsis and post it on my site. While it may look AS IF you had written it, the readers are aware that I have not in fact quoted you. Quoting the bloggers of Renew America is really not very funny. It is traditionally appalling. In the rare instance where I do quote somebody in a ‘Shorter,’ I make it clear. Like:

Pictured (l to r): geh basher, feh slasher

Shorter Verbatim Gina Miller, Renew America:

“America’s foundation is hanging by a thread, and the homo-radicals are wielding hell-sharpened scissors.”

See? I crossed out ‘Shorter.’ Because you wrote:

The militant homosexual campaign against our society is one that seeks to destroy the Christian moral foundation upon which this nation was built. That foundation is hanging by a thread, and the homo-radicals are wielding hell-sharpened scissors.

In all of these ‘Shorter’ posts (see here) I provide a link back to the source. This would be a silly gesture were I aiming to misrepresent anybody. And by now you should know I am not a “reporter,” I do not do “reporting.” So I am quite journalistic-ally unrestrained in offering my obnoxious opinions regarding your obnoxious opinions.

Now to particulars: I believe I did a pretty fair job in representing your reaction to the Martin murder. In “Trayvon mania highlights diseased culture of the left,” you began this way:

The ignorant, irrational mania being stoked by the black race hustlers in the wake of the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin is disgusting.

Call me crazy, irrational and pushed around by “black race hustlers” will you? I don’t think so. And usually standing in opposition to your targets, were you of sensible mania? Your mangled screed went on like this, denying that there were good reasons to be angered by the blasting of an unarmed teenager. This was disgusting:

Today, we see far too many young, black people — and “white” people, too — who are facing a bleak future, because they have chosen to become a sub-culture of America — a sub-culture that glorifies violent, incoherent “music,” anti-social behavior and despicable dress, and even its own unintelligible speech. How can many of these kids of today expect to be accepted and propelled ahead in the workforce when they insist on rejecting something so simple as proper dress and behavior?

No one appreciates being called a “sub-culture,” so you can go to hell. You were also insinuating that Martin and his ilk comprise a national Untermenschen incapable of behavioral norms and common decency, and that this is what understandably precipitates their deaths. I don’t know why people like you exist in the world. Have you ever thought of disappearing? You might find it refreshing.

So I mock you for being callous and indecent. That’s what the blog is for. What’s your blog for? Misanthropy? Just guessing.

You pawn the kids off on Mr. Death

fancy thinkin'

I don’t envy you parents given the questions your kids might have about the Sandy Hook massacre. What would you do? I have no idea, run fast I guess. Why did he do it? He’s crazy I suppose. I know that doesn’t help. I’m not a survivalist, I just don’t think about these things. It hurts to think about it.

Michelle Malkin however thinks about these things. How else to explain all the clever suggestions? The National Review with the goods:

These seven simple commonsense steps are adapted from a post I published on my blog after the horrific Newtown massacre. Our hearts ache, but we are not completely helpless or hopeless in the face of evil and the unknown. And we are not alone. This Christmas, cherish life, keep faith, and practice self empowerment.

Fine by me. Put our heads together and come up with a plan. Michelle takes the lead:

7. Teach our kids about the acts of heroes in times of crisis . .

6. Train our kids. When they see something troublesome or wrong, they should say something . .

5. Limit our kids’ time online and control their exposure to desensitizing cultural influences. Turn off the TV. Get them off the bloody video games . .

4. If you see a parent struggling with an out-of-control child, don’t look the other way . .

Dear, these are not very helpful. I don’t imagine my walking up to a parent and offering to wrestle their kid will be either a welcome or practical act. Oh but wait here comes the top sensible thing:

1. Teach our kids to value and respect life by valuing and respecting them always.

How semi-literate. And hypocritical, remember this?

RIVERSIDE, California (AFP) — A former US Marine was acquitted of manslaughter here Thursday in the shooting deaths of four unarmed Iraqi prisoners during 2004 fighting in Fallujah.

Jose Luis Nazario, 28, was found not guilty of all charges after a landmark trial at the US District Court in Riverside, southeast of Los Angeles . .

Nazario was alleged to have shot dead two of the captives himself before ordering two subordinates to kill the others.

However the prosecution’s case was weakened after the two other Marines implicated in the killings — Jermaine Nelson and Ryan Weemer — refused to testify against Nazario last week and were declared in contempt of court.

Here was Michelle, triumphant:

This won’t be on the front page of the NYTimes.

Justice for former US Marine Jose Luis Nazario.

It was justice when Jose’s subordinates refused to testify how he shot and killed unarmed prisoners. Malkin-justice. Roughly translated: Wear a uniform, kill as you like. Michelle’s respect for life is no match for her sadism. Here’s the unabridged Malkin Number One brilliant suggestion:

1. Teach our kids to value and respect life by valuing and respecting them always. And in loving and valuing life, teach them also not to fear death.

In loving and valuing life teach children to welcome death. Huh?

The Catholic hymn “Be Not Afraid” offers time-tested solace and sage advice:

If you pass through raging waters, in the sea, you shall not drown.

If you walk amidst the burning flames, you shall not be harmed.

If you stand before the pow’r of hell and death is at your side…

You would do this to children? With all these little corpses laying around? Don’t be afraid honey oh yes you certainly will die. Raging floods and burning flames and hunters come with machine guns, fine! Why not! There’s got to be a better time for talk about death. The Sandusky trial no doubt turned the Malkin dinner table into a comedy club with routines on the weakness of the flesh, buttsex with Lot’s pals, etc.

The forest for the millions of bullets and guns

I have derpes

Legal tinker dink Associate Professor Cornell Law School William A. ‘Buttbruise’ Jacobson lofted amount his thunder stallion point o’ the battalion LEGAL INSURRECTION RAAWR (roach trample, watch your tootsies) memo: Aww No!

Nation running out of ammo
Posted by William A. Jacobson Friday, December 28

Reaction to threats by Senator Dianne Feinstein and others to ban certain weapons and serverely [sic] restrict ownership of guns generally has caused a run on gun stores, as is widely reported.

Less reported is the run on ammunition, leaving ammunition inventories down 93% since election day.

How will my attorney militia depose the government? Without bullets? Atomic rockets don’t just get shot and explode themselves, mister.

“Ammunition Stock levels have fallen by more than 90% from the pre-Election Day levels. Less than 10% remains available. Available Ammunition links will be updated throughout the day.

Handguns are down by 80%, Long Guns by 63% for an overall 72.2% reduction in firearms inventories.

AR pattern rifles are becoming particularly difficult to source.”

Gomer! Counselor? Fire up the smelter! Lead for the rounds, copper for the jackets! RIGHT AWAY! After I warehouse the arsenal!

No one with a bazooka has ever been shot before

we should listen to these people

Hail Assrocket the genius:

Within the realm of constitutional options, the most practical remedy I can think of would be to require that a certain number of teachers or administrators in each school be trained in the use of firearms and armed at all times. That would probably deter most school shooters. It is curious, but true, that even those killers who do not intend to survive their crimes never seem to open fire in the presence of another armed person. No one tries to shoot up a biker bar.

No one does that, except for the 3.2% of America who have shot up a biker bar, gotten shot shooting up a biker bar, or plan tonight to shoot up your favorite biker bar some time after how’s midnight with you? Still, it’s central to his point. A shooter won’t shoot you if you have a gun.

CLEMENTON, NJ (CBS) — Police and rescue crews responded to the Gloucester County Municipal Building on Chews Landing Road this morning after shots were fired inside the Gloucester Township police station . .

Three officers were reportedly injured, including at least one who was shot just below his bulletproof vest. He is said to be in stable condition after undergoing surgery.

No it doesn’t happen.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — A man killed Sunday in a shootout at a suburban Detroit police headquarters first tried to shoot an officer behind bulletproof glass before officers exchanged gunfire with him, police said . .

Police Chief Eric Hawkins said investigators were trying to figure out why the gunman carried out the attack. The 64-year-old man had no known grievance with police.

“He didn’t say anything,” Hawkins said at a news conference. “The officers said he had a blank stare on his face.”

Why it never happens.

You really had me going Mister Government Spree Killer

whacko

About Short Little Rebel:

Susan Shannon, author of Short Little Rebel, uses Bible Scripture and God’s inspiration to analyze both national & international news. Susan believes that the end times are upon us.

URGENT UPDATE on the Connecticut Shooting:

He was too mentally ill to have gotten those weapons himself. He was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome and we now know that he had many, many interventions by school officials in the past. I felt that the killing of little children would be the strongest argument yet that we should clamp down on gun ownership. I just couldn’t believe the TIMING and circumstances of this event- a GIFT to the Progressives to disarm us. Who can argue with this case?

Darn. But then an e-mail came.

. . a friend sent me the following links which tell a different story. Having reported the event LIVE and experienced the changing information, I am not surprised. In fact, it makes sense now.

Sooo.

Friends. I believe there is evidence of more than one shooter. I believe this was a PLANNED event- specifically to get the UN Small Arms Treaty signed. The father of the shooter is Peter Lanza, rumored to be scheduled to testify on the international LIBOR scandal. Guess who else is rumored to be scheduled to testify on the LIBOR scandal? Father of the BATMAN theater shooter.

That’s why . .

. . I believe our GOVERNMENT shot those kids and teachers and used Adam Lanza and his family to pull it off. They might have killed two birds with one stone. One: If these men are involved in the LIBOR scandal, they can manipulate their testimony. Two: they get gun control. How very, very clever and efficient of them, right?

The Princess Cruise liner came in without a scratch

fancy thinkin'

In the dismal aftermath of the Sandy Hook shootings (and while death hangs in the air isn’t it fun to read what wingnuts think?), look who has put their heads together and come up with “Newtown Answers.” Nobody. But some folks less than sane and more than arrogant updated their website, so we’re left with the National Review.

By way of an “NRO Symposium” — traditionally a shipboard shrimp eating contest suspended mid-way to pry Pantload’s half-eaten hand from his gob — the Review staff claims it has solved American spree-killing. So this will be all wrong. I’ve gotten as far as the first ‘Answer,’ and here it is from Charlotte Allen:

There was not a single adult male on the school premises when the shooting occurred. In this school of 450 students, a sizeable number of whom were undoubtedly 11- and 12-year-old boys (it was a K–6 school), all the personnel — the teachers, the principal, the assistant principal, the school psychologist, the “reading specialist” — were female. There didn’t even seem to be a male janitor to heave his bucket at Adam Lanza’s knees. Women and small children are sitting ducks for mass-murderers . . in general, a feminized setting is a setting in which helpless passivity is the norm.

There go two problems. Women and children. You can’t count on them to offer better than kindness, caring and love when faced with a mass murderer. Let’s remember that Adam Lanza is on his way because killers are always on their way as this is America [someone might wanna take a look at this place --ed.]. You can get some chimpanzee chaperones, or you can fight back:

There are things you can do. Run is one of them, because most shooters can’t hit a moving target. The other, if you are in a confined space, is throw things at the killer, or try a tackle.

Throw a crayon at Adam. Or a kite if it’s handy. Then after taking 49 headshots, tell yourself “Oooh Mr. Adam. What a tackle I’ll give you.” And then you give him everything you’ve got.

Dagny Taggart crack suicide squad

fucken-a smart as fuck

In the wake of the Connecticut mass killing of children, Megan McArdle has some advice for parents. No you shouldn’t call your congressman and demand something like an assault weapons ban. This would be better:

I’d also like us to encourage people to gang rush shooters, rather than following their instincts to hide; if we drilled it into young people that the correct thing to do is for everyone to instantly run at the guy with the gun, these sorts of mass shootings would be less deadly, because even a guy with a very powerful weapon can be brought down by 8-12 unarmed bodies piling on him at once.

Mom, Dad, you’d be wise to begin teaching the kids this tactic before they’ve watched too much TV. Seeing any of those old Westerns where the tomahawk-swinging Indians charge right at the cavalry, rifles and all, will sap them of the courage they need to save, well, somebody else.

I just happen to have a Get Out Of Reason card

abortion

For all the questions we have about the Sandy Hook shootings, it’s depressing that we have so few answers. ‘Why?’ and ‘WHY?’ being the pressing formers and ‘Who knows?’ being the latter. Unless you’re a pro-life scold of course. Then the confusion and pain swap places with humble wisdom and the willingness to impart Truth. For any and all questions within sniffing distance of evil or ethics or the over-browning of morning toast, the one answer is ‘Abortion.’

In this sort of moral vacuum, where even the most precious and basic freedom, that of life itself, is no longer respected, a society that is increasingly violent and barbaric is bound to arise. We see the effects of that culture daily, and that is the real problem we face. Even if all the guns in the world suddenly disappeared, the carnage would not cease.

But it would sink like a stone. It’s hard to run through a school and kill children at the rate of oh 50 per hour without a gun. Bullets are well-suited to the purpose. They’re easy to dispatch, accurate and difficult to dodge. Otherwise you might try grenading your targets, which could certainly work except for one thing: Grenades are hard to come by. Isn’t that weird?

The Chinese assailants [the lone slasher -- I the oblivious . .] had no guns, the Aztecs had no guns, and Planned Parenthood uses no guns. Perhaps the boy in Connecticut who killed his mother thought that if the law permitted his mother to kill him in, or on the way out of, her womb, he should have the same right.

So the mystery of “What the hell was he thinking?” is solved. Adam Lanza was obsessed with his legal rights in the wake of Roe v. Wade. Thank you Columbo.

It’s raining guns, hallelujah it’s raining guns

it fits in my mouth

After some angry nut grabs one of America’s 200 million guns and blasts a couple dozen children, it’s probably time we did something. Let’s ask a family-oriented to-the-baby-Jesus praying country firster. You sir! Now that some percentage of our six year-olds are dead, what should we do?

Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America . . tossed out this old bullshit today:

“Gun control supporters have the blood of little children on their hands. Federal and state laws combined to insure that no teacher, no administrator, no adult had a gun at the Newtown school where the children were murdered. This tragedy underscores the urgency of getting rid of gun bans in school zones. The only thing accomplished by gun free zones is to insure that mass murderers can slay more before they are finally confronted by someone with a gun.”

We should get some guns.

Steve Dulan, a board member for the Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners . . said Friday that having armed teachers inside Sandy Hook Elementary School would have, “if not prevented, then perhaps minimized,” the tragedy.

“We do know that armed citizens defend themselves all the time, in all kinds of different contexts,” Dulan told HuffPost Live host Alyona Minkovski.

That’s right, teachers need a lot more guns. The principals too and the classroom aides and the janitors don’t forget the nurse and maybe the fat guy with the yellow vest in the parking lot who can’t even spit sunflower seeds at his feet without pelting the kids. We also need thirty-round magazines, lots of tiny earplugs and would it really kill you to go to the military supply warehouse and scare up a Kevlar vest?

Of course not. But you ask: How many more guns do we need? When will we have enough? Isn’t a couple hundred million plenty? Well, when you compare America to the rest of the world . .

. . you see we’re nowhere near having twice as many as whatever pussy nation is behind us (everybody). So there’s room for improvement. And ammunition.

What if the principal had an AK-47?

Louie Gohmert Says More Guns Are Answer To Preventing Mass Killings
Dave Jamieson | Huffington Post

WASHINGTON — In the wake of the mass killing that claimed 26 children and adults at a Connecticut elementary school Friday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) made the case Sunday that the answer to preventing massacres in the U.S. is for more Americans to carry guns . .

“Chris, I wish to god she had had an M-4 in her office, locked up so when she heard gunfire, she pulls it out … and takes him out and takes his head off before he can kill those precious kids,” Gohmert said.

She’d be all “Adam? I’m Madame.” Or “You thought I wouldn’t have a machine gun? Bad boy. You didn’t do your homework.” Or “You forgot your hall pass. I got one here, signed ‘From Remington with love.’” Or “My name is Inigo Montoya. You shot my second grade. Prepare to die.” Or “See Adam. See Adam shoot. See me. See Adam die.” Or “Cowards take hostages. Klingons do not. Ghuy daq hu’teheghhh.” Maybe perhaps “This lesson was brought to you by the letter ‘M.’ And the number ’4.’”
